Alcohol Abuse: Help Is Available

A disturbingly large number of people seek solace at the bottom of a bottle. By drinking and getting to a certain level of inebriation, they seek to forget about the troubles of the world. Or they try to make up for what they perceive is a lack of social character – when they drink they consider themselves to be more jovial and social.

While most people are aware of the dangers of alcohol addition, many don't seem to think excessive drinking is a problem as long as they are not continuously dependent on it. This cannot be further from the truth. Even if you are not showing signs of alcohol dependency, if you are guilty of alcohol abuse, help is needed sooner rather than later.

So what constitutes as alcohol abuse? It can be defined as a pattern of drinking that results in either physical injury; ongoing alcohol-related relationship problems; the failure to attend to important responsibilities at school, work, or at home; or the experience of recurring alcohol-related legal problems (such as receiving multiple DWIs and DUIs) during a twelve-month time period; or a combination of the above.

If this is the result of your alcohol abuse, help is certainly required already. Another one of the key facts on alcohol abuse is that irresponsible and long term alcohol abuse usually results in various long term effects that are highly correlated with different diseases, medical issues, and illnesses.

It is thus clear that someone who has a habit of alcohol abuse should seek help for the sake of their own safety. It is a destructive path that eventually only leads in one direction. In addition to this, they are not only having an adverse effect on their own life, but often also ruining the lives of those around them, sometimes without even noticing this.

We will do whatever it takes ...

SCRC's approach is aimed at facilitating change from the culture of addiction to the culture of recovery.

This process will yield limited success when approached outside of a residential treatment facility particularly when detoxification is required. It is imperative that individuals entering treatment are given as much training and education as possible.
