Drug Abuse Rehab Centers That Take A Holistic Approach

Not all drug abuse rehab centers are effective. Why is this? The main reason is that drug abuse and the rehabilitation thereof is much more complicated than simply removing the drugs and then letting the patient sweat it out. In fact, in some cases such a harsh cessation of the drug can even be fatal. In order to truly achieve success, a holistic approach is required that addresses the detoxification process, while also searching for and treating the cause of the addiction, and providing the necessary training and development in order to prepare the individual to re-integrate into society and take their rightful place with their head held high.

While this sounds like an ambitious task, this is exactly the approach that is taken at South Coast Recovery Centre. What sets us apart from many other drug abuse rehab centers, is the dedicated team of staff members we have working at our facilities. These people are not only experts in their respective fields, but also show honest compassion and a love to help people. In order to successfully implement this holistic approach, a multi-disciplinary therapeutic team is required. The South Coast Recovery Centre team comprises of:

• 6 experienced Addiction Counsellors, registered with the appropriate councils
• 3 Social Workers, with many years experience in the field of addiction
• An Occupational Therapist
• A Psychological Counsellor
• A Pastor providing Pastoral and Spiritual counselling
• 2 professional nurses and 2 enrolled nurses
• A Resident GP who has extensive experience in addiction treatment, detoxification, and mental health disorders
• 2 Night staff
• An experienced management team
• An advisory board

This team of dedicated professionals is further supported by a maintenance team, kitchen staff, and administration staff – all of whom play a vital role in the therapeutic community and recovery oriented lifestyle.

SCRC's approach is aimed at facilitating change from the culture of addiction to the culture of recovery.

This process will yield limited success when approached outside of a residential treatment facility particularly when detoxification is required. It is imperative that individuals entering treatment are given as much training and education as possible.
