Drug Rehab Drug - Assisting In Treatment Of Addiction

For certain types of addiction, it may be necessary to use a drug rehab drug to assist in the person’s withdrawal from their addiction. Withdrawal symptoms can place a huge strain on an individual’s body and can result in permanent health issues.

The withdrawal process can also be very difficult and fearful for an addict to face. A drug rehab drug can help alleviate some of these symptoms and make the withdrawal process more comfortable and easier for the addicted individual to deal with.

This is especially true in the case of heroin addiction where withdrawal symptoms can last days while the body detoxifies. During this period the addict will experience no appetite and any food that he or she is able to consume will inevitably come straight back up.

This can lead to serious dehydration and malnutrition that can cause permanent damage to the kidneys and other organs in the body.

Other symptoms are insomnia, delirium tremens, seizures and so forth, that can all negatively affect the body. In these cases Methadone is a drug rehab drug which is a synthetic opiate is used to slowly wean the addict off the heroin they prefer to take.

This drug rehab drug does not allay the withdrawal symptoms but merely allows the body to detoxify at a slower pace.

It is however possible for a dependence on the drug rehab drug to develop while the person is in treatment. Should this occur, Clonidine can be used to successfully minimise the dependency and addiction to the Methadone.

Clonidine is a chemotherapeutic drug that has no opiate qualities and therefore is not likely to become addictive to the individual.

We will do whatever it takes ...

SCRC's approach is aimed at facilitating change from the culture of addiction to the culture of recovery.

This process will yield limited success when approached outside of a residential treatment facility particularly when detoxification is required. It is imperative that individuals entering treatment are given as much training and education as possible.
